Usually Something To Do With Clothes

I shot this pic for the blog Nicole has started this week. As with most things she does, shes set about it with a determination bordering on the obsessive, and will probably be updated so often, and with such skill that it will start getting the attention of Anna 'Nuclear' Wintour within the month.
I think that if you want to know whats going to be hot in the world of difficult-to-pull-off, impractical, pretty uncomfortable, seemingly crazy, but then later on you find out that it was actually dead-on-brilliant, ahead of its time fashion, then this is the place to go.

If you're after some indigo jeans and a nice white vest top, then its probably not likely to be a good start, but if you're feeling wolves and aztec patterns, I think she might have some of that this week.

NME

One of my pix is also featured on the NME website this month. Its a shot of Brighton based band Sweet Sweet Lies, and its really nice to see it up there. You also get a free copy of their very popular cover of The Stone Roses 'Waterfall'

Blog Props 2010

Nicole was going through some blogs the other day, and weirdly came across a post someone had made that featured some of my Cult images. I'm not sure where they found them or how they came upon them, but it was a nice little ego boost that other people had seen and liked my pix.

For a minute I did wonder if it was all some kind of new computer aggregation software or some kind of scam site, but doing a quick google search brought up a few more blogs featuring this project, all with enough of a commentary to suggest they are real people who like my work, or that someone somewhere has designed a very intricate, highly realistic, and somewhat bizarrely pointless blog posting machine.

Anyway, when I was doing these photos, i always wondered if it was all a bit silly, implausible and stupid, but now it seems that prancing around in a nylon robe brought from a fancy dress shop is the way forward!

33 Portland Place

I'm booked in to shoot the band Love Amongst Ruin in April, their lead singer is Steve Hewitt, former drummer of Placebo. The location they've booked is pretty cool, its a huge old building on Portland Place. Here are some quick shots I took whilst having a look round the location.

This made me laugh

Test Film

If you're interested, I've put a very rough, early version of the test film I made with my Dad as the main actor up online here. It doesnt have any music, or background audio, I'm still trying to decide whether to use a narrator, or just make a mini music video/installation type film with it. It'll probably be difficult to get whats going on, but at least you might enjoy the pictures, or laugh at my appalling acting!

I'm going to shoot a some more bits for it (maybe carrying the story on a bit) when I'm next back in Devon so need to decide soon! Any feedback (via facebook) on what you think its about, or could be about would be really helpful in this respect, to give me some ideas to work off. While its quite rubbish, its been a really good learning experience, especially from the editing point of view.

It will probably only be available for a few days, and is about 60 meg in size.

Shot using my new 500d, using the kit lens and a 50mm f1.8.

32 Gigs

I was playing around with my new camera and caught this amazing moment.
